With the game hanging in the balance entering the final period, Blue Mountain outscored the Hurricanes 25-19 over the last eight minutes to secure the win and advance to the league semifinals.
The contest featured momentum swings throughout the first half. Blue Mountain opened with a strong first quarter to take a 19-16 edge, but Schuylkill Haven answered in the second, outscoring the Eagles 12-7 to carry a 28-26 lead into halftime.
Both defenses tightened in the third quarter, with Blue Mountain reclaiming the lead behind key baskets inside and heading into the fourth up 39-35.
That’s when Tyierre Meade took over.
The senior guard erupted for a game-high 29 points, consistently attacking the rim and converting at the free-throw line to help the Eagles create separation down the stretch. Cohen Werner added 15 points, while Beck Henninger chipped in 10 to give Blue Mountain balanced scoring.
Schuylkill Haven kept pace behind Aiden Evans and Max Heim. Evans scored 18 points and knocked down a pair of three-pointers, while Heim drained four shots from beyond the arc on his way to 15 points. Justin Watcher added 11 points for the Hurricanes.
Despite staying within striking distance most of the night, Haven struggled to slow Blue Mountain’s offense late as the Eagles closed the game on several key runs.
Blue Mountain moves on to face the Schuylkill League Division 1 Champion, Minersville, on Wednesday night in the Schuylkill League Semifinals.
