Fire Damages Home in Orwigsburg, Resident Transported to the Hospitals

A fire damaged a home in Orwigsburg Sunday morning, sending one resident to the hospital.

Emergency personnel were dispatched just before 9:00 a.m. to 129 Station Road for a reported house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters advised of a working fire and requested a second alarm after locating flames in a first-floor bedroom of the home.

Within minutes, crews had water on the fire and began checking for possible extension to other areas of the residence. Firefighters conducted an extensive overhaul to ensure the blaze was fully extinguished.  The fire was marked under control roughly 30 minutes after arrival.

The fire was contained to the bedroom, preventing further spread throughout the home.

The resident who lived at the property was transported to a local hospital with injuries of an unknown severity.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced resident.

A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was requested to investigate the cause of the fire.

Responding units included Orwigsburg, Deer Lake, Landingville, Schuylkill Haven, New Ringgold, and Pottsville fire companies. Pottsville and Englewood also responded as Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT).
