A Schuylkill Haven man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he assaulted a woman, drove while intoxicated, and fled the scene before being taken into custody early Monday morning.
According to court documents filed by the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, troopers responded around 12:35 a.m. on February 2, 2026, to the 100 block of Fair Road in South Manheim Township for a report of a man who had allegedly been drinking heavily and attempting to leave a residence in a vehicle.
Troopers located a black Toyota sedan bearing Pennsylvania registration on Fair Road. Police say they made contact with the driver, identified as Cruz Gonzalez Garcia, 41, of Schuylkill Haven.
While speaking with Garcia, troopers reported observing signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the odor of alcohol. Garcia allegedly admitted to drinking earlier in the evening. Police noted the vehicle had been disabled and determined the location was unsafe to conduct field sobriety testing. Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Schuylkill Haven station, where a blood draw was later conducted at a hospital.
Assault Allegations
While investigating, troopers contacted a woman at a nearby residence who reported that Garcia had been drinking throughout the night and became aggressive.
According to the affidavit, the woman said Garcia struck her multiple times in the face, kicked her door, and ran from the home. She later reported that Garcia returned, took her vehicle keys, and drove off.
Police documented visible injuries including a large bruise on her forehead, swelling to her nose, and a bloodshot eye. She was advised to seek medical treatment.
