Anna Cooper
, 98, of Frackville, PA, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at the home of her beloved niece, Joan in Doylestown, PA, where she had resided for the past two and a half years.

Anna was a cherished aunt who radiated happiness, joy, and gratitude throughout her life. Her infectious laughter and positive outlook on life touched everyone around her. She loved spending precious moments with her family, delighting in the company of her dogs, Dior and Bear. A devoted lover of the shore and dining out, Anna found joy in simple pleasures. Her unwavering faith in Jesus and the Blessed Mother was a defining aspect of her life, and her church held a special place in her heart.

Born in Frackville, PA, Anna was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Keysock) Cooper. A proud graduate of Frackville High School, she dedicated over 40 years of her career to Bell Telephone Company and AT&T as a telephone operator. Her commitment extended beyond work; she was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she joyfully participated in making pierogies and was a valued member of the St. Michael’s Lady's Sodality.

Anna is predeceased by her brother, Michael Cooper, and sisters, Helen Platko, Mary Yurkosky, and Olga Davis. She is survived by her sister, Irene Cooper of Doylestown, PA, along with four loving nieces—Joan Krasnisky, Elizabeth Davis, Donna Earhart, and Kathy Yurkosky—and three nephews—John Davis Jr., Joseph York, and Michael York. Additionally, she is remembered by two great nephews, two great nieces, and several great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom carry her legacy forward.

Viewings will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Parastos at 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the Mark J. Hummel Funeral Home, 48 N Broad Mountain Ave., Frackville, PA 17931. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Frackville, with the funeral procession beginning from the funeral home at 10:30 AM. Anna will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery.

Sylvester “Sib” P. McCarthy, Jr.
, 76, of Mill Creek Manor, died Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Ashland on March 23, 1949, he was a son of the late Sylvester and Eleanor (Miller) McCarthy.

Sib proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and later retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he worked as an Insurance Adjuster.

A man of deep faith and generous spirit, Sib served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in St. Clair. He was also a longtime member—and President—of the Independent Hunting Club, St. Clair. Known for his jovial personality, warm heart, and ever-present smile, he had a genuine way of making people feel welcome.

Sib had a lifelong love of Notre Dame sports and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Fighting Irish. He also cherished time spent outdoors, especially hiking with his beloved Vizslas, Seamus, Xavier, and Beamer. His kindness, friendliness, and good humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Kenneth “Beamer” McCarthy, Francis “Champ” McCarthy, James McCarthy, and Daniel McCarthy.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Donna (Procina) McCarthy; two sons, Michael McCarthy and his wife Melissa of Birdsboro, and John McCarthy of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Megan McCarthy and her partner Kristen Kemp of Birdsboro; a step-daughter, Melissa Green and her husband Jason of Annville; two cherished grandchildren, Shea and Massimo; and his devoted canine companion, Beamer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock Street, St. Clair, with the Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating. Friends may call at the church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sib’s memory to the Schuylkill County Viet Nam Veterans Memorial, Inc. C/O William Higgins 219 Deerfield Drive, Pottsville, PA 17901. Burial with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Roger L Scheib
, age 84 of Hegins, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

He was born on May 7, 1941, in Hegins, a son of the late Harold Scheib and the late Flossie Huntzinger Scheib.

Roger was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy DeMito; a son, Timothy Scheib; a brother, Donald Scheib; and a sister, Nancy Kline.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Rodney) Troutman of Hegins; five grandchildren, Cody (Chantelle) Troutman of Auburn, Tanner (Mariah) Troutman of South Williamsport, Bianca (Kabongo) Bukasa of Pottstown, Danielle (Terrance) Edwards of Pottstown, and Kaeleigh Scheib of Norristown; four great-grandchildren, Nori, Nolan, Everleigh, and Azara ; sister, Sally (Maynard) Gandy of Harrisburg; and son-in-law, Paul DeMito of East Noriton.

Services will be held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Lee Diefenderfer officiating.

Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.

Patricia Hayberg, (nee Travisano)
85, of Toms River, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the home of her daughter in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania.

Born on June 8, 1940 in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Eleanor Travisano.

She received an Associates Degree from Ocean County College, N.J. and was a Legal Secretary.

She loved crocheting and sewing and was a huge Elvis fan.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Barry Hayberg, on November 21, 2025.

Surviving are four daughters; Susan and husband Frank Hines of Pine Grove, Jacqueline and husband Charlie Burke of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., CareyAnn Rose of Randolph, N.J., Sheryl Hayberg of Jackson, N.J.; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; a brother Thomas Travisano and wife Janice of New Mexico.

Services are private.
