Pottsville Man Accused of Stalking, Evading Police After Disturbance and Foot Pursuit

A Pottsville man is facing multiple charges after police say he repeatedly attempted to contact a woman, caused a disturbance outside her home, and later fled from officers during two separate encounters Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
According to Pottsville Police, officers were first dispatched to the 200 block of Peacock Street around 9:33 p.m. on April 28, 2026, for a reported disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who told police that her former boyfriend, identified as 36-year-old Sean Skellenger, of Pottsville, had come to her residence attempting to speak with her. The victim said she answered the door and told Skellenger he was not supposed to be there and to leave. After a second attempt to contact her at the door, Skellenger allegedly became irate, yelling and using profanity before leaving the area.

Police say the situation escalated shortly afterward when the victim went outside to warn arriving household members. At that time, Skellenger allegedly approached her again near her vehicle, yelling and cursing. The victim returned inside and locked the doors, but Skellenger reportedly continued pounding on a front window while shouting.

Officers were called back to the residence around 10:29 p.m. after the victim reported that Skellenger had contacted her by phone from the Pottsville Motor Inn and made additional explicit comments. The victim told police that after she ended the call, she received two more missed calls from the same numbers.

Later that evening, around 10:54 p.m., officers attempted to locate Skellenger at a residence in the 500 block of Jefferson Street. Upon making contact, police say Skellenger immediately fled, leading officers on a foot pursuit through an alley, into a residence, and out onto a rooftop. During the escape, police reported damage to a gutter and garden decorations at a neighboring property. Skellenger was able to evade capture at that time.

Police returned to the Jefferson Street residence early the following morning after receiving information that Skellenger had come back. Upon arrival, Skellenger again fled through a second-story window and onto nearby rooftops. After a brief standoff, he complied with police commands and was taken into custody without further incident.

Skellenger has been charged in two separate criminal complaints. The first includes one count of stalking, along with summary counts of harassment and disorderly conduct. The second complaint charges him with evading arrest or detention on foot and criminal mischief.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, who set bail at $10,000 cash on the first complaint and $10,000 percentage bail on the second.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incidents.
