Schuylkill County Woman Charged with Assault, Child Endangerment After Incident in Pottsville

A Schuylkill County woman is facing multiple charges following a reported domestic disturbance that led to allegations of child assault late Wednesday night.

According to police, officers were dispatched around 10:22 p.m. on April 15, 2026, to a residence in the 800 block of Fairmont Avenue for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers reported hearing loud yelling and screaming coming from inside the home.

Police said they knocked on the door several times before a woman, identified as Shante Richards, answered and told officers everything was okay, adding that the child’s mother was upstairs.

While speaking with Richards, a 7-year-old boy approached officers and stated that his mother had struck him in the face. Police reported observing visible injuries to the child, including redness and swelling on the left side of his face, as well as a reddened ear. Officers also noted multiple superficial abrasions on the child’s forehead and temple area, including a linear abrasion with dried blood.

According to the report, the child told police his mother, identified as Brooke Nadeen McShaw-Boardman, held him down by his hair and punched him several times in the face.

Officers made contact with McShaw-Boardman, who they said showed signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes and slurred speech. She admitted to yelling at the children for not listening, according to police.

Police also noted prior involvement with Children and Youth Services, stating that the circumstances demonstrated a disregard for the welfare of the child.

As a result of the investigation, McShaw-Boardman was charged with Endangering the Welfare of Children (Felony 3), Simple Assault (Misdemeanor 1), and Harassment.

She was taken into custody, arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
