Schuylkill League MVP Trey Keating Featured in State Hoops Classic

Nativity BVM High School senior Trey Keating capped off one of the most decorated basketball careers in Schuylkill County history during the 2025-26 season, establishing himself as one of the top scorers in Pennsylvania.
Keating, a 6-foot-2 combo guard, served as team captain and led Nativity BVM with a dominant senior campaign, averaging 28.4 points per game while totaling 711 points, setting both a school and Schuylkill League single-season scoring record.

His performance placed him among the elite across the state. Keating finished the season ranked first in scoring in the Schuylkill League, PIAA District 11, and PIAA Class 1A, while ranking third overall across all PIAA classifications.

Keating’s scoring ability extended beyond volume, as he also led in perimeter shooting. He averaged more than four 3-pointers per game, finishing the season with 103 made threes — again topping the league, district, and state. Over his career, he connected on 342 three-pointers, the second-highest total in PIAA history.

By the end of his high school career, Keating amassed 2,297 points, becoming Nativity BVM’s all-time leading scorer. He became just the fourth player in Schuylkill League history and the eighth in District 11 history to surpass the 2,000-point milestone.

Beyond scoring, Keating contributed across the board, averaging 8.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3.0 steals per game as a senior, recording 12 double-doubles on the season.

His efforts earned him Schuylkill League Most Valuable Player honors for the second consecutive year, along with multiple Athlete of the Week recognitions and selection to the WNEP Super 16 Dream Team.

Over the course of his career, Keating was a two-time PIAA All-State selection and a four-time Schuylkill League scoring leader. He also twice led the state in scoring, accomplishing the feat in both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

Keating’s accomplishments extended beyond basketball. He was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in golf, baseball, and cross country, and served as a team captain in golf. Off the field, he held leadership roles as president of student council and participated in numerous academic and service organizations, while maintaining a 4.3 GPA and earning distinguished honor roll recognition for 13 consecutive quarters.

His high school career concluded Saturday with recognition as one of the top senior players selected to participate in the Mr. & Miss Pennsylvania Basketball All-State Hoops Classic, held at the Steel-High Martin J. Benkovic Gymnasium, featuring an East vs. West All‑Star format that highlighted standout athletes from across the Commonwealth. The evening will included girls and boys showcase games, a 3-point competition, and a slam dunk contest.
