In a message sent to parents and guardians, district officials said that while students were allowed to continue moving throughout school buildings, additional security measures were put in place.
“All schools are currently under a soft lockdown. Students are able to move throughout the buildings as needed; however, no one is permitted to enter the schools at this time, and students will not be allowed to leave,” the district stated.
Parents were also asked not to attempt to pick up their children during the situation.
“We kindly ask that you do not attempt to pick up your child until further notice. We will provide updates as more information becomes available,” the message continued.
According to additional information shared by the district, early reports from law enforcement suggest the situation may be tied to a robocall that has affected several school districts in the region. Despite that, officials emphasized they are taking the matter seriously and following all recommended safety protocols.
“Preliminary information from law enforcement indicates that this is likely a robocall affecting several school districts across eastern Pennsylvania. However, we are treating the situation with the utmost seriousness. Until we receive an official all-clear from the state police, we will remain in a soft lockdown,” the district said.
District officials reiterated that the safety of students and staff remains their top priority as the situation continues to be evaluated.
As of this report, no further details have been released. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
