A Minersville man is facing more than 500 felony charges after an investigation by Minersville Police allegedly uncovered hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material on his cellphone.
Andrew C. Moyer, 48, of Minersville, was charged Wednesday following an investigation that began Monday, May 6, 2026, when Minersville Police were dispatched to a North Street residence for a reported sexual offense.
According to an affidavit filed by Patrolman Brian Gossert, officers Tim Walsh and Gossert made contact with a group called Predator Poachers – Long Island. They told police he had been communicating online with a person identified as Andrew Moyer. During those conversations, Moyer allegedly believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl and engaged in sexually explicit discussions.
Police said the group informed officers that Moyer arrived at a predetermined meeting location in Minersville on May 6, where he was confronted. During the encounter, Moyer allegedly admitted to having 500 to 600 photos and/or videos of child sexual abuse material on his phone and made several incriminating statements.
According to court documents, Moyer voluntarily consented to police retrieving material from his cellphone and provided officers with the device’s password. During a forensic review of the phone, investigators allegedly discovered hundreds of files depicting child pornography, including images and videos involving minors and infants. Police said some material depicted children estimated to be between the ages of 3 and 13 years old.
The affidavit further states investigators found conversations indicating Moyer allegedly purchased and sold sexually explicit material involving minors and distributed images and videos of minors engaged in sexual activity through online applications.
Court records show Moyer was charged with approximately 531 felony offenses, including:
- 200 counts of Dissemination of Photographs, Videotapes, Computer Depictions and Films of Child Sex Acts, all third-degree felonies
- 200 counts of Child Pornography, all second-degree felonies
- More than 100 counts of Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, third-degree felonies
The listed offenses are dated Jan. 1, 2023.
Moyer was arrested and arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli in Frackville. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison after failing to post $75,000 straight cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26th, 2026 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis.
