The storms brought heavy rain and gusty winds that knocked down trees and wires across parts of the county, leading to scattered outages.
According to PPL, crews were working Sunday to restore service, with many outages expected to be repaired throughout the day. Some customers may not have power restored until as late as 11:00pm Sunday.
As of Sunday morning, PPL reported the following outages in Schuylkill County:
- Blythe Township – 2 customers affected
- Butler Township – 162 customers affected
- Cass Township – 72 customers affected
- East Brunswick Township – 53 customers affected
- Hubley Township – 9 customers affected
- North Manheim Township – 37 customers affected
- Pottsville – 15 customers affected
- Schuylkill Township – 395 customers affected
- South Manheim Township – 1 customer affected
- Tamaqua Borough – 12 customers affected
- Tremont Borough – 1,068 customers affected
- Tremont Township – 1 customer affected
- Union Township – 4 customers affected
- Washington Township – 2 customers affected
- West Penn Township – 5 customers affected
In total, approximately 1,838 customers were affected by the outages as of 10:15am.
Residents are reminded to stay away from any downed wires and report outages or hazards directly to PPL.
