Friday’s regular-season finale will feature the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman and Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners, with season champions crowned in all three divisions.
The Roadrunners will compete in the Crazy 8s, while the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman will also be part of the program.
The races are part of USS Achey Inc. Night and will begin at 7 p.m. Pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. and hot laps begin at 6:45 p.m.
Adult general admission is $20, admission for children ages 10 to 15 is $10 and children 9 and younger will be admitted free.
Coalcracker Set for Sunday
Big Diamond’s season will conclude Sunday with the 46th running of the Jack Rich Inc. Coalcracker 72 for the 358 Modifieds.The program will also include the Coalcracker 25 for the 602 Crate Sportsman and competition from the Infinite Solutions Keystone Sport Compact Series.
First held in 1979, the Coalcracker has grown into one of the premier dirt Modified races in the Northeast, attracting Big Diamond’s weekly competitors along with visiting drivers seeking one of the event’s largest paydays.
The winner of the 72-lap Modified race will receive $15,000, while drivers who take the green flag are guaranteed $600.
The 602 Crate Sportsman will compete in a 25-lap race paying $1,500 to the winner. Both races will also include lap-bonus money.
Nine-time Big Diamond track champion Duane Howard leads all drivers with seven Coalcracker victories. Howard also holds the event records with 27 top-five finishes, including seven runner-up finishes and nine third-place finishes.
The first 45 Coalcracker races produced 25 different winners, including eight drivers who won the event multiple times.
Craig Von Dohren, Jeff Strunk and defending champion Ryan Godown each have four victories. Charlie Eckert and Doug Hoffman won the race three times apiece, while Kenny Brightbill and Billy Pauch Sr. each recorded two victories.
All gates will open at 3 p.m. Sunday. Warm-ups begin at 6:30 p.m., with racing to follow.
Pit admission is $45. Adult general admission is $35, admission for students ages 6 to 12 is $15 and children younger than 6 will be admitted free.
