According to the Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, to the 300 block of South Centre Street for a reported motorcycle crash.
When officers arrived, they found a black 2008 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle broken into three pieces in the roadway and at least one person suffering injuries.
Police said their investigation determined that the motorcycle, operated by Tyler Stuber, 24, of Middleport, was traveling north on South Centre Street when Stuber accelerated and lost control. The motorcycle then struck the driver-side rear of a legally parked 2008 Cadillac Escalade in front of The Chopping Block.
The impact caused Stuber to be thrown from the motorcycle. Police said he was able to get up and walk away from the roadway following the crash.
The parked Escalade sustained minor damage to the driver's side along with a flat rear driver's-side tire.
Members of the Pottsville Fire Department and Schuylkill EMS responded to assist at the scene. Firefighters handled traffic control and cleaned up fluids from the roadway, while EMS personnel evaluated Stuber for a suspected serious injury to his right knee. However, police said he ultimately refused medical treatment.
During the investigation, Stuber reportedly told officers the motorcycle was not insured and that he believed his driver's license was suspended. Police confirmed that his operating privilege had been suspended due to a DUI-related offense.
According to police, Stuber also admitted the registration plate displayed on the motorcycle did not belong to the vehicle. He allegedly told officers he had attached a plate from a collection he kept at his residence to make the motorcycle appear registered until the title could be transferred.
As a result of the investigation, Pottsville Police filed citations against Stuber for:
- Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked (DUI-related)
- Required Financial Responsibility (no insurance)
- Careless Driving
- Fraudulent Use of a Registration Plate
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
