A new flagpole now stands at the Citizen Cemetery of Lavelle as a tribute to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
New Flagpole Added to Lavelle Cemetery
The Citizen Cemetery Association of Lavelle recently completed the project and held a dedication recognizing all service members.
Association officials emphasized that the pole is a completely new addition to the cemetery.
The project took approximately eight months to complete as organizers gathered pricing and solicited bids for the work. Gregg Oakill of Oaks Welding & Line Boring was contracted to construct the flagpole.
Community Donations Fund Project
Community donations financed the project. Organizers said the support received from area residents made the new memorial possible.
Cemetery Association Holds Dedication
Association President Sarah Fetterolf, Secretary Tracy Weinreich, Treasurer Dale Bolich, Paul Fetterolf, Craig Troutman, Grant Marlow and Howie Smith attended the Friday gathering.
Three cemetery association board members - Frank Smith, Donnie Klinger and Rick Knorr - were unable to attend the dedication.
The flagpole will serve as a permanent symbol of appreciation for all who have served the country while adding a patriotic focal point to the cemetery grounds.
