Hurricanes Rush for 462 Yards in Win Over Shenandoah Valley

SHENANDOAH — Schuylkill Haven’s rushing attack powered the Hurricanes to a 48-20 victory over Shenandoah Valley on , as Colton Reber and Logan Goad combined for 459 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

The visiting Hurricanes accumulated 462 rushing yards, built a 14-0 first-quarter lead and pulled away during a third quarter that featured five touchdowns between the teams.

Schuylkill Haven improved to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in division play. Shenandoah Valley, which entered the game with a 5-1 record, fell to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the division.

How Schuylkill Haven Built the Lead

Goad scored both of Schuylkill Haven’s first-quarter touchdowns, breaking loose for a 59-yard run before adding a 9-yard score. Trevor Searle converted both extra points to give the Hurricanes a 14-0 advantage.

Schuylkill Haven extended its lead in the second quarter when Bode Hinnershitz connected with Chase Yoder for a 22-yard touchdown on the Hurricanes’ only pass attempt. The extra-point attempt failed, leaving the score at 20-0.

Shenandoah Valley answered with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Bench to Gene Sinkus. Following an unsuccessful extra-point attempt, the Blue Devils entered halftime trailing 20-6.

Valley drew closer in the third quarter when Bench found David Burrous for a 29-yard touchdown. Sam Mentusky’s extra point reduced Schuylkill Haven’s lead to 20-13.

The Hurricanes responded with consecutive touchdown runs: a 33-yard score by Reber and a 62-yard burst by Goad. Searle added both extra points to increase the advantage to 34-13.

Bench then threw his third touchdown pass of the game, connecting with Mike Elchisak for a 7-yard score. Mentusky’s kick brought the Blue Devils within 34-20, but Reber answered with a 61-yard touchdown run.

Reber completed the scoring with a 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, followed by another Searle extra point.

Reber and Goad Lead 462-Yard Rushing Attack

According to statistics provided by T102 Sports Now, Reber rushed for 277 yards on 18 carries, while Goad gained 182 yards on six attempts. Each player scored three rushing touchdowns.

Schuylkill Haven finished with 484 yards of total offense and did not commit a turnover.

For Shenandoah Valley, Bench completed 23 of 42 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Burrous led the Blue Devils with 105 receiving yards on five catches, while Sinkus caught 10 passes for 87 yards. Todd Seiger added three receptions for 36 yards.

Elchisak led Shenandoah Valley’s rushing attack with 64 yards on 14 carries. The Blue Devils totaled 363 yards and held a 21-14 advantage in first downs.
