Tamaqua Ends Three-Game Skid with Win at North Schuylkill

Ace Schickram’s 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter lifted Tamaqua Area to a 12–7 victory over North Schuylkill in a Schuylkill League Division 1 football game on .

Both teams entered the matchup with 2–4 records. The visiting Blue Raiders improved to 3–4 overall and 1–2 in the division, while the Spartans fell to 2–5 overall and 1–1 in division play.

Tamaqua Takes the Early Lead

Tamaqua opened the scoring in the first quarter when Terrence McDowell Jr. scored on a 5-yard run. The two-point conversion pass failed, leaving the Blue Raiders ahead 6–0.

North Schuylkill answered in the second quarter with a 21-yard touchdown run by Daniel Brake. Wes Urban’s extra point gave the Spartans a 7–6 lead, which they carried into halftime.

Schickram put Tamaqua back in front in the third quarter, breaking loose for the decisive 55-yard touchdown run. The ensuing two-point conversion run failed, making the score 12–7.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter, allowing the Blue Raiders to leave with the five-point victory.

Winning and Losing Streaks End

The result ended North Schuylkill’s two-game winning streak. The Spartans earned their first two victories of the season during the previous two weeks against Springfield Township and Pine Grove Area.

Tamaqua ended a three-game losing streak. Its previous victories came in Week 2 against Schuylkill Haven and Week 3 against Marian Catholic.

Both teams will play at home next week. North Schuylkill will host Blue Mountain, while Tamaqua will welcome Panther Valley.
