TAMAQUA — More than 100 walkers participated in the 15th annual Tamaqua Community Hunger Walk on Sunday afternoon, raising $8,564 to help local food ministries as the 2026 Tamaqua Area Hunger Campaign came to a close.
Participants gathered at the Tamaqua Community Art Center before walking to Griffith’s Funeral Home and back, showing their support for neighbors facing food insecurity.
Proceeds from the walk contributed toward the October campaign’s overall fundraising goal of $25,000. Campaign funds benefit four local church-affiliated food pantries and one baby food ministry serving families throughout the Tamaqua area.

Community Support Throughout October
Throughout October, churches, businesses, community organizations and individuals supported the campaign through food collections, fundraising events, restaurant partnerships, concerts and individual contributions. The effort helps sustain local ministries that assist hundreds of families each month.
“Sunday’s turnout was a fitting conclusion to another month of community generosity, reminding everyone that fighting hunger is a year-round commitment and that every contribution makes a difference,” said Paul Dodson, a campaign planning team member and organizer of the walk.
