PennDOT Announces Route 61 Frackville Grade Closure for November 1–2 for Traffic Shift

Route 61’s Frackville Grade between Terry Rich Boulevard in St. Clair and Interstate 81 near Frackville is scheduled to close from 3 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2026, until 5 a.m. Monday, November 2, while crews shift traffic onto the newly constructed southbound side.

According to PennDOT, traffic will be detoured using Route 209, Route 901 and Interstate 81. Motorists should allow additional travel time and follow posted detour signs.

PennDOT Roadwork in and Near Schuylkill County: October 19–23, 2026

Motorists traveling through Schuylkill County and along two routes approaching the county line should expect traffic restrictions during the week of October 19, 2026, according to PennDOT’s upcoming maintenance schedule.

The scheduled projects include crack sealing on Interstate 81 in Foster Township, lane shifting on Route 309 in neighboring Lehigh County, and shoulder work on Route 501 in Berks County.
