Minersville Man In Prison After Gun Incident

Minersville Police got a call of a domestic violence incident where shots were fired around 7AM Sunday morning at 313 Pine St.

When police arrived, they could hear yelling coming from the second floor of the home of John G. Chistakoff, 47.

Police questioned Chistakoff but denied doing anything wrong.  But when police questioned Jane Katchmer, who lives with Chistakoff, she said earlier in the evening, he got into an argument with his brother.  The argument escalated into an argument between Chistakoff and Katchmer which resulted in Chistakoff smashing objects around their home.

A gun got involved and Chistakoff fired 3 shots into the floor.

When police investigated, they found 3 empty shells in their bedroom room and a hole in the living room ceiling directly below the bedroom.

Police found the fired bullet on the living room floor

Chistakoff was charged with one count of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, one count of terroristic threats and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

He was arraigned and is now in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bail.
