Fire Spreads Through At Least 5 Pottsville Homes

Friday Afternoon at approximately 3:45pm, crews were called to 217 Schuylkill Ave, Pottsville for a structure fire.

Black smoke billowed from the fire could be seen for miles.

Crews had water issues while fighting the fire causing them to set up water relays from other streets.

The fire quickly spread to 4 other homes, but no information was given yet on the extent of the damage to the other homes or if other homes were damaged.  The fire was said to have spread to 213, 215, 219.  10 people have been displaced from the fire.

The fire hit a 3rd alarm around 5pm to aid in getting the flames under control.

There was said to have been 3 civilians hurt in the fire and 1 firefighter.  All have been taken to the hospital but not released as of 7pm

When Skook News hears of anything about donations for the victims, we'll be sure to pass it on.

But we do know that the American Red Cross is helping the 7 Adults and 3 children that were fire victims.

  1. I am the owner of The Curious Cat - Consignment & Treasures located just outside of Schuylkill Haven heading towards Friedensburg. We have many women's items that have expired off our racks and we would like to donate EVERYTHING to these families in need. The American Red Cross is getting in touch with me on Monday. I certainly think these people could use some help now. If you can direct me to someone or some organization that could help make this happen, I'd greatly appreciate it. I can be reached on my cell phone at 610-823-3563 or my home phone 570-345-0508. Michele (Hoy) Wilczynski, Proprietor
