Man Arrested for Receiving Stolen Property, Gun, and Drug Charges During Traffic Stop

HAMBURG - On 11/4/2016, the Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg stopped Josue Nieves-Lopez along Interstate 78 near Milemark 30.5 for multiple traffic violations.

During the stop, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehcile.  A search wasd conducted, and a loaded Ruger P-90 45 ACP Semi-Automatic Handgun was found under a front seat.

Police ran the serial number of the Handgun and found that the handgun was reported stolen during a burglary a week prior in Lebanon County.

Also found during the search was a small baggie of suspected marijuan and a small baggie containing multiple pink pills.

Nieves-Lopez was taken into custody on charges of receiving stolen property, firearms not be carried without a license, multiple misdemeanor drug charges, and summary traffic violations.  He was arraigned on $25,000 monetary bail and transferred to Berks County Prison.

West Mahanoy Township Crash

WEST MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, around 4:30am Friday morning, Derek Balthaser was traveling east on Morea Road in West Mahanoy Township when he lost control on a right hand curve in the the roadway.  The vehicle went off the berm of the road and struck a stone wall of a cemetery.

No injuries were reported.

Two Facing Charges After Traffic Stop on Interstate 78

TILDEN TOWNSHIP - According to Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg, a traffic stop took place near Milemarker 29.2 on Interstate 78 on 11/1/16 for a suspected speeding violation. During the traffic stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.

This prompted a probable cause search which led to the discovery of 2 oz. of processed marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a credit card embossing machine, multiple blank credit cards, laptop computer, and a credit card skimmer.

Ikeem Fowler-Washing, 20, of Far Rockaway, NY and Jowell Turner-Moore, 22, of Hampton, VA were the operators of the vehicle and were taken into custody and transported to Berks County Central Processing.

Both are facing charges of Act 64 and Illegal Device Making Equipment.
