Posted from TamaquaArea.com

An unidentified male driver fled on foot after crashing into another vehicle and storage shed along Valley Road in Walker Township Wednesday (April 30, 2014) night.

Emergency personnel were called around 8:30 PM to the area of 781 Valley Road for a report of a two-vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Officials arrived to see a heavily-damaged vehicle (a black Chevrolet Cavalier) crashed into a storage shed and another damaged vehicle (a grey Volkswagen) on the grassy lawn of a nearby home. Air bags were deployed on both vehicles. The individuals, two women and one man, in the Volkswagen refused ambulatory care and opted to seek medical attention on their own.

A witness on scene said that the man that fled was wearing a red hoodie or jacket and appeared to have a tattoo on his neck. Officials noted that the Volkswagen was traveling northeast on Valley Road when it was struck by the Chevy, traveling in the opposite direction.

The demolished shed belongs to David Bensiger of 781 Valley Road. Margaret Bensinger said that vehicles routinely speed through this area. Responding were New England/Walker Township Fire Company, Tamaqua Fire Department, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, New Ringgold Ambulance, Tamaqua Ambulance, State Police and others.
