Schuylkill County Child Development, Inc. Awarded Grant

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced Monday that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded a supplementary grant worth $2,948,886.00 to Child Development, Inc.

The organization is dedicated to providing families in Schuylkill County with comprehensive early childhood education programs that focus on family involvement and supportive service. The funds will be used to aid its Head Start program.

“Child Development, Inc. provides children in northeastern Pennsylvania access to a wide range of high-quality educational services. These federal funds are an investment in both our community and our children,”Rep. Cartwright said. “I am a proud proponent of Head Start; a great education starts with early childhood education and is vital to strengthening our economy and our country.”

Head Start is a national program created in 1965 to address the educational and developmental needs of low-income, preschool students. Head Start’s comprehensive service system provides social, nutritional and educational services for thousands of children and their families across the United States.
