When crews first arrived, they found flames shooting from the rear of an apartment building next to the Ashland Grille in the 300 Block on Middle Street.
Crews quickly doused the flames and had the fire under control within minutes and were able to save the front apartments of building. 2-3 apartments suffered fire damage near the rear of the building.
Emergency personnel remained on scene for over an hour.
Crews on scene were Ashland's Washington Fire and American Hose, Girardville, Frackville, Mount Carmel, and Mahanoy City's Citizens. Gordon remained on standby at American Hose's Station.
The Red Cross was also on scene to assist fire victims.
No word on a cause at this time.
