Perseids Meteor Shower to Peak Tuesday and Wednesday Nights

According to astronomers, the Perseid meteor shower will peak Tuesday and Wednesday nights.


With a new moon on August 14th, skies will be dark all night providing excellent viewing conditions.  The meteors are described as dust-sized pieces  of icy debris that expelled from a comet.

The best times to view the meteor show both Tuesday and Wednesday is after midnight.  The further away you are from cities and street lights the better.  Stargazers will be able to see about 1 meteor ever minute if you are outside and away from street lights.
