Winter Storm Jonas Dumps Nearly Two Feet of Snow on Schuylkill County

(01/24/16) Winter Storm Jonas will go down as one to remember in Schuylkill County.

By the time the storm ended late Saturday, Schuylkill County seen anywhere from 20 to 28 inches of snow.

Road crews were out most of the storm in many county burrows and even some municipalities issued Snow Disasters or Driving Bans just to get people off the road so they could work on clearing them.  The Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency also asked residents to stay off the roads overnight while roads were cleared.  There were few places to go anyway since most closed early or never opened Saturday.

Skook News had many weather watchers sending information throughout the storm and we can report the following final snow totals:

Ashland - 23 inches
Hegins - 21 inches
Mahanoy City - 25 inches
McAdoo - 28 inches
Pottsville - 25 inches
Tamaqua - 20 inches

Below are some photos sent to Skook News from Schuylkill County Residents.
