Superintendent Addresses Parent Concerns Regarding Rumored Threat

Shenandoah Valley Superintendent responded to parent concerns about a reported threat made in school last week.

On Sunday evening, Superintendent Brian Waite issued a phone call to the parents of the Shenandoah Valley School District the following statement.

On Friday, February 17th, we received parent concerns about an possible threat to the Shenandoah Valley School District.
Administration and staff worked with local law enforcement to locate, identify, and gather information of all involved.
After investigating, it has been determined there is NO credible threat.
As always, the safety, well being, and security of our students and staff is our highest priority.
Please be assured that we have in place measures that will continue to provide our students with a safe and secure education environment.
I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, February 20th.

The message was in regards to an alleged incident at school on Friday were a student had made threats that were going to occur at school on Monday.

Online postings from parents began Friday and spread around the internet Saturday.

Skook News later confirmed on Saturday from the Shenandoah Police Department the following statement reporting the rumors to be false.
On Friday, February 17 the Shenandoah Police Department received notification from the Shenandoah Valley School District that they had received reports from concerned parents and students that a student was going to bring a gun to school on Monday after being involved in an altercation with another student.
Police investigated the report and have determined that there is no truth to the allegation.
