Officials Urge Citizens to Call 911 for Emergencies Only After Erroneous Message from Cable Provider

Schuylkill County officials are urging citizens to call 911 for emergencies only after a message went out to a cable provider's customers telling them to do so.


According to Schuylkill County Emergency Management, Service Electric has been having some service issues in Northern Schuylkill County Thursday afternoon.  SCEMS is saying the cable provider sent a erroneous message informing it's customers to call 911 for outage information or updates.

SCEMS is stressing to county citizens to contact 911 for emergencies only.

Attempts to contact Service Electric have been unsuccessful.
