Mahanoy City Fire Under Investigation

A fire in Mahanoy City late Friday afternoon is under investigation.


Around 5:10pm, Friday, fire crews were called to the 300 Block of Center Street, Mahanoy City for a working structure fire.

The initial call came in with possible entrapment but occupants were able to exit the building safely.

Witnesses stated that flames were seen from the rear of the building before fire crews arrived.  They also reported a large explosion.

Fire crews had the fire under control and out within 45 minutes of the original call containing the major fire damage to the 3rd floor of 304 East Center Street.  The lower levels of the building suffered water damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation officials tell Skook News it was not a meth lab.

The American Red Cross is helping the 4 victims from the fire.
