North Schuylkill Elementary Gives Back to Veterans

On Wednesday, North Schuylkill Elementary gave back to local veterans.

For the month of November, North Schuylkill Elementary has been focusing on giving back to the community.  Students have been collecting items for care packages for active military as well as for the veterans.

On Wednesday, as part of the students' Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) Reward, local veterans visited the school to talk to students.

Veterans from the Ashland VFW and American Legion, Girardville American Legion, Schuylkill County Army Recruitment Office, and others participated.

The veterans spent the morning visiting each classroom, talking with the students, and even playing some games with the students.

When students weren't meeting with the veterans, they were helping assemble care packages from the items they have been collecting.  Members of the North Schuylkill Elementary PTO also assisted.

Some of the items included blankets, clothes, socks, soap, deodorant, tooth brushes, chapstick, candy and other items.  By the end of the day, students had assembled over 400 care packages.
