Edith Kathryn "Eadie" Barron, a longtime resident of Tamaqua, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Blue Mountain Health Systems Lehighton, Pennsylvania at the age of 92. 

Widow of Theodore J. "Junior" Barron who passed away on June 16, 2001, she is survived by; sons, David W. Barron and his wife Beverly of Tamaqua, James T. Barron and his wife Eileen of Tamaqua; daughters, Jayne L. McLaughlin of South Tamaqua, Kathy Ann Polyak of Tamaqua; 7 grand children; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. 

A member of Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua, Eadie had worked at the former Rita's Restaurant as the over night cook for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and playing bingo. 

Born Sunday, June 28, 1925 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. the daughter of the late David, and Catherine (Wagner) Lewis. She was also predeceased by; sister, Elizabeth E. "Betty" Hill; brother, Edwin E. Lewis; grandson, Jimmy Barron; great great grandson Whitten Balliet.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock AM on Wednesday November 15, 2017 from the funeral home. Friends may call on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM. 

Interment will be in Odd Felloows, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Catherine (Bilyk) Smith, age 53, of Gameland Drive in Tamaqua, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial in Coaldale.

Survived by her husband of 9 years, Steven J. Smith; Daughter Rosalie G. Sanders of Middletown; Sons Thomas J. Bilyk of Harrisburg and Christopher J. Sanders of Albion; Sisters Margaret Dawe wife of Raymond of Phillipsburg, NJ and Barbara Rehl wife of Edward Jr. of Phillipsburg, NJ; Brother William Bilyk of Ewing, NJ; nieces and nephews.

Catholic by faith, Catherine was a graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and was a strong advocate for PTSD foundations and support groups.

Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rosalie (Foglia) Bilyk.

Gilbert D. Shuey, 80, of North Manheim Township, passed away Thursday at Lebanon Veteran's Hospital, Lebanon.

Born in Barry Township, Nov. 23, 1936, he was a son of the late Lawrence Sr. and Verna Klinger Shuey.

He was the husband of Joyce L. Trumbo Shuey.

Gilbert was a graduate of Hegins Township High School and had served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

He retired from Reneer Films and was last employed by the Schuylkill Country Club as part of the grounds crew from 1998-2016.

Gilbert was an active and faithful member of Friedens Lutheran Church, New Ringgold.

He also belonged to the Schuylkill Lodge 138 F&AM, the New Ringgold Fire Company as a life member, and the Landingville Hose Company as a social member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua J. Stokes.

In addition to his wife, Gilbert is survived by two daughters, Arlene F. Shuey Mengel and husband, Steve, Hamburg, and Deborah A. Generella and husband, Frank, New Ringgold; two granddaughters, Cathleen Kayani, Bear, Del., and Alexis Day, Slatington; two great-granddaughters, GraceAnn and Addilynn. He is also survived by four sisters, Patricia Shuey, Nancy Emminger, Judith Alstadt and Karen Maurer; two brothers, Lawrence Shuey Jr. and Harry Shuey; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at Friedens Lutheran Church, 525 Church St., New Ringgold, with the Rev. Kenneth Melber Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
