Santa and Mrs. Claus to Drive Fixed Route STS Buses on Friday

Festive holiday events will be taking place at Union Station, 300 S. Centre Street in Pottsville this Friday, December 15, 2017.

The Schuylkill Transportation System announced today that both Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will “each” be driving fixed route buses thru out the course of the day to spread some holiday cheer to passengers, young and old alike.

Dave Bekisz, Executive Director of the Schuylkill Transportation Authority said, “I would like to extend our thanks to the people of Schuylkill County for their participation in both our Fixed Route Service and Shared Ride Program.  Also on behalf of myself and all the employees of The Schuylkill County Transportation Authority I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday season.”

STS “Holiday One Fare Days” will also be available on Friday, December 15, meaning that all day Friday, fares will only be $1.50.

This ticket (one time fare) enables the customer to enjoy riding and transferring onto any of the system’s ten fixed route buses that operate within the county.

The “Older and Bolder” bell ringing group from the Tamaqua Salvation Army, under the direction of Ms. Dina Depos, will be ringing in holiday tunes of the season as they offer FREE entertainment between the hours of Noon and 3:00 P.M.

And at 3:00 P.M. there will be a prize drawing in which one lucky participant will win a FREE 30 day Smart Card pass to ride STS fixed routes.

Participants donated non perishable food items to be distributed to Schuylkill Community Action for disbursement in order to be entered into the drawing.
