Reports of Large EBT System Outage Wednesday Afternoon

A large EBT system outage is being reported Wednesday afternoon.

Skook News has received several reports along with reports in cities in the eastern US that the SNAP EBT system is currently down for areas in the Northeast United States to as far west as Illinois.

Reports on the website Down Detector said the system wasn’t working across the U.S., with EBT users reporting widespread problems.

From reports it seems the outage started around 11:00am and as of 2:00pm systems were still down stores are unable to process purchases.

The EBT Program is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).

The EBT cards are used like bank cards and provide food assistance benefits to those in need.

We will have more information on this when it is available.
