Dale William Snyder, 77, of Catawissa passed away peacefully on January 20, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was born March 29, 1940 at Girard Manor in Schuylkill County to Frank and Mary (Hill) Snyder. He was baptized as a Christian.

Dale attended Helwig Elementary and then Catawissa High School. He married Janet L. LeVan on June 6, 1959 in Catawissa, where they lived. Over the years, Dale worked for Donnie Grimes as a farm hand. He also worked for Amax, Rhorbach’s Farm Market, and Weis Potato Chips. Dale was a tractor trailer driver until he retired. He was also a Teamster. His CB handle was “Frosty.”
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard, James, and Kenneth, and a sister Emma.
Dale is survived by two sons, William and Donna Snyder (Catawissa) and Brian and Lyonne Snyder (Elysburg). Dale had four grandchildren: Angela Rush, Joseph Snyder, Brianna Snyder, and Caleb Snyder. His two great-grandchildren were Elijah and Ethan Rush. His surviving siblings include: Lucille Morrison, Geraldine McWilliams, Mary Lou Wolfe, Linda Hoffman, Donald Snyder, and Carl Snyder.

Eleanor Elizabeth Artz, age 91, of Fountain, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Kepler Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Elizabethville.

She was born on Wednesday, February 10, 1926, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Earl Yoder and the late Eva Dunkelberger Yoder.

She was a 1943 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Philadelphia.

Eleanor was a registered nurse for Dr Donald V Malick, Hegins, prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain.

Eleanor enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sports and other activities. She was an avid Phillies and Penn State fan. She enjoyed word search and cooking and baking for her family.

Her husband, Melvin L Artz, passed away in 1982. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Yoder.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas E Artz and his wife Dawn of Hegins , James A Artz and his wife Cathy of Millersburg, and David A Artz and his wife Carla of Tower City; grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Matthew, Michelle, Chelsea, and Emily; and great-grandchildren, Kate and Casey.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be made in Fountain Community Cemetery.

Ruth I Miller, age 97, of Hegins, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on Tuesday, April 20, 1920, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Gurney E Kroh and the late Katie I Williard Kroh.

She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Ruth was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.

She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.

Ruth enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and enjoyed her nightly Jeopardy.

Her husband Charles F Miller passed away in 2000. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Bixler; a brother, Herold Kroh; and a sister, Hilda Kroh.

She is survived by daughter, Amy Csendes of Ann Arbor, MI; eleven grandchildren; twenty- three great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Kroh of Hegins; a sister, Dora Hoon of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Duane Bardo officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday at the church.

Burial will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.

Margaret A. Nahf, 96, of Mahanoy Street, Tamaqua, PA died on Saturday, January 21, 2018 in Hometown, PA. 

She was the wife of the late Wilbert C. Nahf who died in 1974. Born in Summit Hill, PA on July 13, 1921, Margaret was a daughter of the late Hugh and Maria (nee Snyder) Conahan. 

A 1940 graduate of the former Summit Hill High School, she was a homemaker. Margaret was a member of The Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua. 

She is survived by daughters, Sylvia Cordeiro and her husband Frank of Tamaqua and Diane Lindeman of Tamaqua; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by sisters, Caroline Subaran and Victoria Boyle. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 24 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Joseph Whalen officiating. Interment in St. Jerome Cemetery, Lombard Street, Tamaqua will follow services. Call 10-11 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com.
