Nancy Jo Doraski, 78, Ashland, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning at her home.

Born in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Roy “Sparky” and Maude Hall Adams. She worked for Clorox Company and in the housekeeping department at Geisinger, Danville before her retirement.

Nancy was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 541, Catawissa and also served as a bartender for many years.

She enjoyed crocheting and was very generous with the items that she made for many people. She was a great person, who was loved by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tom Doraski.

Nancy is survived by her loving companion, James J. Cuff, Ashland; her son Mike Van Cleave, Roseburg, OR; her brother Edward E. Adams, Muncy; her sister Alice Luce, Frewsburg, NY; her two grandsons: Steven and Fred Van Cleave; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland with pastor, Rev. Paul Rothermel, as the celebrant. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in Elysburg. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from Noon until the time of mass.

Philip J. Dangelo, 69, Harrisburg, former Girardville resident passed away peacefully Friday at Pinnacle Health Hospital, Harrisburg.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Philip and Josephine Corigliano Dangelo. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jo Myer.

Philip is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home Girardville with Rev. Paul Rothermel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in Philip’s name, to the Huntley Drive Group Home at 133 Huntley Drive Harrisburg, PA 17112.

Sarah L. Cooper, 89, of Berwick, PA, formerly of Ashland, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Signature Healthare,Bloomsburg, PA.

Born in Ashland, PA March 2, 1928 the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Derr) Trathen. She graduated from Ashland High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Evansville and was the church organist for many years. Preceding her in death was her husband, James Cooper in 1999. Also preceding her in death were four sisters and two brothers: Anna, Emma, Alma, Clara, Charles, and Clarence. 

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cooper, Nescopeck, PA. Also surviving are two grandchldren, and two great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Monday, February 12, 2018 in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, PA . Rev. Robert Rice officiating.

Alexander F. “Alex” Chesonis, 68, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Shenandoah, December 4, 1949, he was a son of the late Alexander E. and Florence (Novatka) Chesonis.

Alex was a 1967 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, formerly St. George Church. Alex was an avid hunter and fisherman but, above all, his family was of most importance to him.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his daughter, Angela Chesonis; sister, Carol Ann Pryzbylik Jones.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Margaret L. “Marge” Vislusky; a daughter, Beverly Labosky and her husband, Michael, Shenandoah Heights; a son, Dave Chesonis and his fiancee, Susan Smith, Shenandoah; four grandchildren, Melissa Chesonis, and Nathan, Sydney and Morgan Labosky; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Lilliana and Gabriella; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Casimir Church, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call from 9 until 10 a.m. Monday at St. Casimir Church.
