Ruby H. Thissen, (V. Ruby Hoke) age 92, of Springbrook Ave., Rhinebeck, NY, formerly of School Street, Pine Grove, passed away on Sunday, February 25, in The Thompson House, Rhinebeck, NY.
Born on January 30, 1926, in Donaldson, she was the daughter of the late George Wellington and Florence Mae Harner Hoke.

Ruby graduated from the Tremont High School and attended Penn State Business School. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cressona Chapter No. 367 and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. She was a bank Teller at the former Lebanon Valley National Bank. In retirement, she enjoyed tending her flower gardens and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jay Thissen, her son, Charles Miller, two baby boys; three brothers, Marvin Hoke, George Hoke, Jr., Wilber Hoke, and three sisters, Vergie Hoke, Phyllis Hoke and Mary Bretzius.
Surviving are a Daughter, Christine Miller, two grandchildren, and a sister, Joanne Clark.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 1, at 10:30 A.M. in the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. There will be a viewing on Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.
The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 312 S. Tulpehocken Street, Pine Grove, Pa. 17963, in her memory.

Edith June (Walker) Lipiec, 85, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Monday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street.

Born in Yatesville, June 2, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Elsie (Freeman) Walker.

She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Edith worked as a clerk for the former Sawka’s Bakery and later at Jean’s Newsstand, both of Shenandoah.

She was a very devout and active member of the former First United Methodist Church, Shenandoah, and was a current member of the First United Methodist Church, Mahanoy City. She was an avid football fan of the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles. Edith loved shopping but above all her family was of most importance to her.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Edmund M. “Munu” Lipiec Sr., December 8, 2011; a son, Frank Lipiec; a sister, Margaret Ann “Muggs” Walker.

Surviving are two sons, Edmund M. “Butch” Lipiec Jr. and his wife, Hannah, Shenandoah, and John Lipiec and his companion, Amy Sheeler, Shenandoah; a daughter, Marylou Cecchini and her husband, Tony, Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Christopher Cecchini and his wife, Lisa, Jennifer Cecchini and Stephanie Cecchini, all of Virginia, and Keith Lipiec and his wife, Julia, Abingdon, Md.; two great-grandchildren, twins, Keith Eric and Stella Lipiec; two brothers, Clayton Walker and his wife Mary Ann, Mahanoy City, and Frank Walker and his wife, Lillian, New Brunswick, N.J.; four sisters, Ruth Holden, Mahanoy City, Shirley Gottshall, Bloomsburg, Grace Schuyler, Drums, and Susan Aponick, Mahanoy City; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Pastor Susan Daniels will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held from 9 until 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Joyce F. (Ploeger) Melusky, 71, of Lost Creek, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, July 28, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Kathryn (Joyce) Ploeger.

She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Joyce was a nursing and dietary aide at the former Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven.

She was a member of the former St. Mary Magdalene Church, Lost Creek.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her son, Stephen Melusky, and sister, Anne M. Tragus.

Surviving are a son, Mark J. Melusky and his wife, Lisa, Lost Creek; two grandchildren, Joshua and Kayla Melusky, Lost Creek; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Religious services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held from 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Jean A. Roseman, 80, of Centre St., Ashland, passed away Monday February 26th, 2018, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill, East Norwegian St. Pottsville.
Born in Fountain Springs, June 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Marie Donlin Miller. She attended the former St. Joseph’s Elementary School, Ashland, and was employed as a Trimmer and Presser for the former Ashland Sportswear Factory, Ashland, until her retirement in 1984. Jean was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, now St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish, Ashland.
Preceding her in death was a son, James Roseman, sisters Margaret Fetterolf and Florence Miller, also a brother Gerald Miller.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Prayer Service, Friday, 7 PM in the Richard W. Fritz Funereal Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Paul L. Rothermel, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland. A visitation will begin at 6 PM until service.
