Just after 5:15pm Friday, crews were called to the Gilberton Coal Company for a fire in a dryer at the top of a silo and conveyor belt system owned by WMPI Inc..
Crews from around northern Schuylkill County responded including a tanker task force.
The conveyor belt/dryer plant system that connected to the top of the 180 foot silo was threat to firefighters and a collapse zone was established and crews faced the fire defensively.
It took crews over an hour to bring the fire under control.
As of 7:30pm, crews were just beginning to clear the scene.
