Peter J Thomas, 66 of Ashland, formerly of Gilberton. died March 6, after a long and courageous battle with myleodisplasia. He was a son of the late Edna (Tregea) and George (Sky) Thomas.

Born and raised in Gilberton, he attended Mahanoy Area schools. At the age of 21 he began working at Reading Anthracite and worked there until his retirement.

Peter was a quiet man who enjoyed John Wayne and Elvis movies, along with his glass of Pepsi and a cigarette. He was a family man, who always enjoyed being in the kitchen to lend a helping hand and to be a wise guy.

Peter was proceeded in death along with his parents by 4 sisters, Mae and Gladys Thomas, Jacie Boyer, Beth Ferrari and a brother George Thomas.

He is survived by his daughter Mandy and her husband Justin Reed, along with his only granddaughter Molly Frances, whom was the light of his life and his grand-dog, Curly, whom was his side kick. A sister Ruth Williams, Levittown and his Godmother Jane Jones of Frackville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who he loved unconditionally.

As per Peter’s request services will be held at the convenience of his family.

Blanche R. Tobias, 80, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday at her daughter's residence.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., June 19, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Anna Sevtlik and Martin Rihacek.

She was the widow of Adam J. Tobias, who passed away in 2009.

In addition to her husband, Blanche was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Putlock; sons, Timothy and David Tobias; sister, Mildred Keefer.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

She is survived by daughters, Debra, wife of Lester Morgan, Schuylkill Haven, Theresa, wife of Harry Nunemacher, Cressona, and Kimberly Tobias and her fiance, Richard Gwin, Schuylkill Haven; sons, Kenneth and Douglas Tobias, both of Schuylkill Haven; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mark Putlock, Pottsville, and Terry Mabry, companion of late son, David; sisters-in-law, Linda Sterner and Ann Schaeffer, both of Schuylkill Haven.

A Catholic memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. March 17 at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
