Scott Tesno, 63, of Ashland, PA passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home. Born on May 2, 1954 in Ashland son of the late Glenn and Joan (Curley) Tesno. He attended North Schuylkill High School. He worked as a welder at E. A. Querin and later Atlantic Track in St. Clair, PA until becoming ill.

Preceding him in death is a brother: Brian Tesno.

Surviving are his wife: Judy (Joyce) Tesno of Ashland, PA. Step-daughter: Roni wife of Robert Lynn of Pottsville, PA. Grandson: Knox Lynn. Brother-in-law: Tom husband of Betty Ann Joyce of Ashland, PA. Sister-in-law: Susan Tesno of Ashland, PA. Nieces and nephews.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of the arrangements. Charles Heizenroth III, F.D.

Robert R. "Bob" Hasara, age 63, of Morea, died unexpectedly Monday at his home where he resided with the love of his life Rita Bartashus.

Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, he was the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Fritz) Hasara. He was a 1972 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and also graduated for Vo-Tech in carpentry and worked as a carpenter. He was of the Catholic faith and was a faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross. His hobbies included listening to Polkas, sudoku, crocheting, couponing, cooking, cutting wood and nurturing house plants. Everybody knew Bob for his beautiful blue eyes and crazy noises.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was a granddaughter Kayla. Surviving in addition to Rita are a daughter Kimberly Tashler, a son Jason Hymes, a sister Linda Hall and her husband Robert , 4 grandchildren Bryce, Gavin, Giana and Arianny.

Private religious and graveside services will be held at Sky View Memorial Park in Hometown. There will not be any calling hours. Contributions in Bob's name to the Berks Greater Food Bank, 117 Morgan Drive, Reading, PA 19608 would be appreciated by the family.

Mary Ellen Smith, 65, of North Manheim Township, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Polinsky Stock. She was a 1970 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School. She had worked for the former Kane Steel for 17 years.

Mary Ellen and her husband, Bob owned Brierwood Kennels and Cattery, Seltzer, for 10 years, where they cared for many of the community’s beloved pets. She had a special way with animals and her favorite pet was Topper, a black and white Border Collie mix. Mary Ellen served on the board of Ruth Steinert SPCA for many years. She was actively involved in SPCA fundraisers.

Mary Ellen also loved traveling with her husband, their visits to area casinos and spending time with family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert F. Smith, to whom she was married for 41 years; three siblings, JoAnn, wife of Alan Kershner, Mohnton, Michelle, wife of William Lewandowski, Pottsville, and Michael Stock, husband of Lynn Planitzer, Dover, Delaware. Survivors also include aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Monday from 6:00 P.M., with funeral services at 7:30 P.M. Funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Tuesday between 8:00 A.M. and 8:30 A.M. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ruth Steinert SPCA, 18 Wertz Dr., Pine Grove, PA 17963.

Marion St. James, 98, of Oneida, passed away Tuesday, April 24th, 2018, while a guest at the Manor at St. Luke's Village in Hazleton.

Marion was born in Lester, PA on June 19, 1919, a daughter of the late Rebecca and Roy Gilpen.

She was retired, having been employed in the local garment industry and was a member of the ILGWU. She was also a member of St. James United Church of Christ in Sheppton.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis St. James in 1980 and by three daughters, Janet Roeder; Kay Moyer and June St.James and also by two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are her sons, Robert St. James, of Oneida and Edward St. James, of Delaware.

The matriarch of six generations she is survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and by a great, great, great grandchild.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service which will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 27th at the Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with Father Charles Warwick, Chaplain of Celtic Hospice, officiating.

Geraldine “Jeri” Chelak, 82, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 25th, at Homeland Center, Harrisburg.

Arrangements incomplete and will be announced Friday.

Kenneth "Kenny" Romberger, 89, of Schuylkill Haven, , passed away Wednesday, April 25th, at Lehigh Valley East Nowegian, Pottsville , Schuylkill County, PA.

Kenneth was born in Tower City, PA on December 27, 1928, a son of the late Florence (Wagner) and Joseph Romberger.

He graduated Schuylkill Haven High School class of 1946.

Kenny served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church Schuylkill Haven.

He worked for years as a custodian at Schuylkill Haven Elementary Center.

He was the husband of Lucille (Reber) Romberger.

Kenneth "Kenny" is survived by a son, Wade Romberger, of Auburn, and by 3 Grandchildren Emily, Hannah, and Hunter, many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park. Services will be privately held.

Rosemarie Matula, 67, of Tamaqua, PA died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Bethlehem, PA. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Matula who died in 2003.

Born in Coaldale, PA on April 28, 1950, Rosemarie was a daughter of Charles Hollenbach of Tamaqua and the late Lillian (nee Garcia) Hollenbach who died in 2009. A 1967 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she was a member of the Tamaqua American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her father, Rosemarie is survived by daughter, Nadine Fisher and her husband, Greg of Hometown, PA; granddaughter, Emily Fisher; sister, Lillian Betz and her husband, Joseph of Tamaqua; and nephew, James Betz and his wife, Stacey of New Ringgold, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 28 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Darryl Kensinger officiating.

Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow the service. Call 9-10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com.
