Peter Thomas Luddy, 21, of Mahanoy City, passed away Tuesday May 8th, 2018 at 6:58 pm in Carillion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va., following a traumatic brain injury while on a training mission with the U.S. Army.

Peter was born in Hazleton, PA on March 9, 1997, a son of Elizabeth Ferrante, her fiancé Sean Runkle and Thomas Luddy Sr., his fiance Susan Bettinger.

He was serving in the U.S. Army Reserves 811th in Rainelle, West Virginia for his annual training.

He worked for Boscov’s in the Laurel Mall Hazleton in loss prevention. His goal was to become a police officer. (Bruhh)

Peter graduated Mahanoy Area class of 2015 and was attending Penn State. He played Basketball with his team The Golden Bears and was active in the Mahanoy Area even after graduation. He loved hiking, fishing, and guns.

Peter was an organ donor. On Thursday May 10th, 2018 at 1:15 pm he donated his organs. Which shows just how caring he was and how much he wanted to help as many people as he could. His heart was placed in a women just hours after he donated. The family hopes to meet her.

Peter is survived by four sisters, Michelle (Lala) Garavuso, of Coaldale; Nancy Garavuso, of Queens NY; Stephanie Luddy, of Scranton; Vanessa Luddy, of Scranton. Two brothers, Frank Luddy, of Sugarloaf; Thomas Luddy Jr, of Scranton. Maternal grandmother Nancy Arato, of Mahanoy City.

He is also survived by many aunts ,uncles, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother Michael Peter Garavuso, paternal grandmother Arline Farr and maternal grandfather Peter Ferrante.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11am on Monday, May 21st, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating, followed by full Military Honors at the church.

Friends and family may call Saturday 6 to 9 pm and Sunday 2 to 5 pm at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 300 West Center Street Mahanoy City.

Rose Ann Fekete, age 74, of Pottsville, PA passed away Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.

Born in Pottsville, PA on September 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Loretta (Spinelli) Ciesla.

Rose worked in the ironing department for Van Heusen and she was a member of the former Mary Queen of Peace Church in Pottsville.

Rose loved gardening and really enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Francis Michael Fekete on January 22, 2013.

Rose is survived by two daughters: Michele L. Lagasse and her husband Hubert J., Pottsville and Lisa M. Shistle and her fiancé David Sock, Minersville; a son Michael F. Fekete, Pottsville; 9 grandchildren: Anthony, Kellie, Skyler, Domenick, Jacob, Joseph, Camryn, Nathan, and Gene; six great-grandchildren: Wesley, Caleb, Jacob, Maverick, Zachary, and Danielle; a sister Ann Marie Sonnon, Florida; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Pottsville at 10AM on Saturday, May 19th, with Rev. Anthony Drouncheck officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Friday evening from 6-8PM and Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30AM at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home 208 Pike St.

Interment will be held in the Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Chapel.

Jason Albert Mucher, 88, of Hometown, Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Weatherly, PA. 

He was the husband of Marian Elma (nee Zeisloft) Mucher to whom he was married 63 years. Born in Hazleton, PA, Jason was a son of the late John and Henrietta (nee McHose) Mucher. Prior to retiring, he worked for Air Products. Jason was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Tamaqua where had been a former sexton as well as being a former sexton for St. Matthew Evangelical Congregational Church, Emmaus. A very adept woodworker, he spent his retirement years turning woodworking into a hobby when he wasn't spending time at the Beacon Diner. 

Jason is survived by his wife, Marian; daughters, Jerilyn Mucher of Coplay, PA and Jacqueline Kauffman and her husband Jeff of Roanoke, VA; son, John Mucher of Tamaqua; and grandchildren, Jessica Kauffman and Jeremy Kauffman of Roanoke. 

He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Gibson. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 18 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating. Call 10-11 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. 

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 430 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Mary Lou Miller, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Phoebe Berks Village Commons, Wernersville.

Born on December 28, 1939 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late John U. and Jennie E. Jones Miller.
She was a member of Hetzel's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Mary was a CNA at Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon.

Preceding her in death were 14 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are a son, Terry and wife Cheryl Miller of Myerstown; a grandson Brock and his wife Trish Miller of Fredericksburg.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Jill Bierwirth officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in the Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to Phoebe Berks Village Commons Personal Care, 1 Reading Drive, Wernersville, Pa. 19565 in her memory.

Kathleen L. Kurtz, 62, of Kurtz Rd., Pine Grove, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 after a 3 year battle with cancer.

Born on December 10, 1955 in Bunkertown, Juniata Co., she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Shirley Zeigler Dressler.

She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was a member of the Pine Grove Community Church.

Kathleen worked in the cafeteria for Pine Grove Area High School.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Steve Kurtz; three sons, Bradley and wife Peggy Kurtz, Tom and wife Erika Kurtz, Grant and wife Tracy Kurtz, all of Pine Grove; 4 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Joe Dressler, Roger Dressler, Jack Dressler, Steve Dressler; two sisters, Deb Brinton, Barb White; nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pine Grove Community Church, 83 Pleasant Valley Rd., Pine Grove with Pastor Bob Kensinger officiating. There will be a visitation on Monday, May 21, 2018, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the Church.
