Carolyn Mary Welsh Wile (nee Epting), 79, of Port Carbon, PA passed away on May 30, 2018 at the Reading Hospital

Carolyn was born at home in Palo Alto, PA to William E. and Sarah T. Epting on February 12, 1939. She graduated from Pottsville Area High School with the class of 1956 and worked as an international telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Philadelphia and as dairy manager at Acme Markets. She was married to Thomas R. Welsh on 5/16/1958. Following her beloved’s death in 1977, she later met and married Alvin J. Wile, with whom she spent many happy years together, until his passing in 2006.

She enjoyed fiendishly doing word puzzles, beating us all at Jeopardy, swimming, baking, camping, trips to the beach, and crocheting from time to time. She was a member of the Mechanicsville Game and Fish Association, the Port Carbon Fire Department, and an avid supporter of the Port Carbon Library, SPCA and Wildlife Foundations. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and cats, especially Lucy.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by beloved husbands, Thomas R. Welsh, and Alvin J. Wile, two nephews, Bruce and Brett Eiler.

She will be forever missed by her three children and their spouses, Jonathan Welsh (Beverly), Mena, AR, Michael Welsh (Tara), Port Carbon, PA, Susan A. Wesnoski (Frank), Springfield, PA, her two sisters, Janine Eiler, Orlando, FL, Gloria Joel (Jonathan), The Villages, FL, mother of four granddaughters, Josie Welsh, MO, and eight grandchildren, Kasey Welsh, Courtney Welsh, Carly Waddell (Jake), Kelly Welsh, Emma Wesnoski, Maggie Wesnoski, George Bondura (Heather), and Melissa Hrbek (Jim), and six great-grandchildren, Tyler Bondura, Emilee Bondura, Addison Bondura, Gianna Miller, Xaiden Hrbek, and Zemora Hrbek, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 2nd at 10AM at the Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home, 208 Pike St. Port Carbon, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetary, Port Carbon.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday morning from 8:30-10AM at the Funeral Home, Port Carbon, PA.

William James Faenza,
A devoted husband and loving father who was born on December 29, 1944, William departed this life May 31, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Growing up in Summit Hill, PA, he proudly served his country in Vietnam and returned home to marry the love of his life, Barbara Fedora with whom he just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in May. William was employed for over 30 years with Silberline Manufacturing. Starting first as a general laborer, he worked his way up to become a Plant Maintenance Supervisor. William always felt his time was best spent at home with his family, first providing for and raising his three children, William Jr., Christianne and Nicole. In his later years, his interests grew to building and creating things. In his retirement years, William loved working with his hands and could always be found in his workshop creating unique pieces of furniture and other items for friends and family. He was of the Orthodox Faith. William is survived by his wife, Barbara of Andreas, PA; son, William James of Andreas; daughters, Christianne Bayer and her husband Stephen of Tamaqua, PA and Nicole Faenza of Douglasville, PA; siblings, Donald, Theodore, Marilyn Markay, and Lisa Kirklosky; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Myrle (nee Herring) Faenza; siblings, Sylvia, Joseph who was William’s twin, and Ralph; and on Saturday his favorite canine companion, Winston. Services will be held at 8:30 PM on Monday, June 4 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Very Rev. James P. Weremedic officiating. Call 7-8:30 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Jerry R. "J.R." Nelson, 75, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

Jerry was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 6, 1943, a son of the late Bernice Stalder and Richard Nelson.

He was the husband of Linda L. Dionisi Nelson.

He was formerly employed by Wear Me Apparel as a controller.

J.R. is preceded in death by his brothers, Scott and William.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Richard Nelson, husband of Dina, Levittown, N.Y.; daughter, Tracey Amey, wife of Joel, Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Sammantha and fiance, Alex, Emily, Natalie and Riley; and a sister, Nancy Fritz, Wisconsin.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona. A viewing for family and friends will be held from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

Daniel H. Haas, 66, of Hecla, passed away Friday, June 1st, at his home.

Dan was born in Pottsville, on October 17, 1951, a son of the late Betty J. (Eckroth) and Harry F. Haas. He was the husband of Christa L. (Pauley) Haas. They married Feb. 19th, 2000.

He graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1969 and worked as a mobile feed grinder for the farming industry. He was a member of the New Ringgold Fire Company and also the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. He was an avid hunter.

In addition to Christa, his wife, Dan is survived by his daughter, Brianne Halye & her Fiancé, Chad Neifert Two sons Bruce, husband of Justina Haas and Zachary Halye, companion of Madyson Wessner.

his brother, Craig Haas; Two granddaughters Aimee Haas and Karsyn Halye, a niece and nephew Joel Haas and Katrina Eckroth.

Daniel was predeceased by his son Travis D. Haas.

A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 6th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, with Pastor Eugene Eckroth officiating. Evening Viewing will be held 6-8 PM on Tuesday, June 5th the Funeral Home, and also Wednesday 10-11. Interment at Friedens Lutheran Cemetery, New Ringgold.
