Danny's Drive-In Reopens Under New Ownership

On Saturday, Danny's Drive-In, Ashland, held a Grand Re-opening under new ownership.

Danny's Drive-In has been a staple in Ashland for over 50 years, being known for their burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and their famous hot sauce.

The restaurant opened in the 1950's, and was owned by Danny Snyder, then called the Boulevard Drive-In.  Fast forward to 1989, Danny retired and sold the business to his son Randy.

Earlier in 2018, Randy Snyder put the business up for sale and recently the sale was finalized.

On Saturday, the new owners, Mike and Sandy Kitsock, held a grand re-opening and car show.  The event had over 40 antique and classic cars fill the parking lot, just like it did on Friday nights, 40 years ago.

After the car show, we sat down with Sandy Kitsock and her daughter, Lindsey, who will be helping run the restaurant.

When asked about their interest in buying the restaurant, the Kitsocks had a very simple reason. "My dad has always loved coming here after football games and on weekends.  We want to take the restaurant back to where it used to be.  The place where everyone hung out." said Lindsey Kitsock.

For now the Kitsocks plan to run the restaurant exactly how it has been for the past few years.

"The staff, the food, the hot sauce will all stay the same." said Sandy Kitsock.

For the future though, the Kitsocks, are looking to change the hours and add some items to the menu, such as wraps and salads, they also want to bring back customer favorite, soft ice cream.

Currently the restaurant does not offer breakfast and is closed on Sundays. Lindsey Kitsock added "We want to do breakfast and open on Sundays, we just have to make sure we have the staff to do so first."

Danny's is located at 630 South Hoffman Boulevard, Ashland and is open daily at 11:00 am Monday through Saturday.
