The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening.
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...In the range of 100 to 104 degree due to temperatures in the lower 90s and dewpoints in the lower to mid 70s. Locally higher heat indices of slightly over 105 degrees are possible through late afternoon in urban areas.
* TIMING...This afternoon through early this evening.
* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Limit or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities. Find shade and stay hydrated. Check up on the elderly, sick and those without air conditioning. Never leave kids or pets unattended...look before you lock.
