Man Arrested for Assaulting Another Man with the Leg from a Wooden Table

Mahanoy City Police took a man into custody Thursday for assaulting another man with the leg from a wooden table.


According to Mahanoy City Police, on September 10, 2018, around 7:00pm, Kenneth Vanhorn, of Mahanoy City, reported to Ptlm. Rachael Lenar at the police station that he had been assaulted by Hector Lopez, 46, of Mahanoy City.  Vanhorn had visible injuries to his right forehead.

Vanhorn told police that he was outside his home on Spruce Street around 3:30pm when Lopez came from behind striking him with the leg from a wooden table knocking him to the ground.  Once on the ground, Lopez then allegedly continued to beat Vanhorn.  A witness told police that Lopez struck Vanhorn about 20 times until he was stopped by a neighbor.  Vanhorn lost consciousness during the incident and was said to have been bleeding heavily.

Vanhorn was transported to the hospital via a personal vehicle.

On Thursday, September 13, 2018, Lopez was taken into custody by Mahanoy City Police Officers Mchugh and Lenar.

Lopez was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.

Lopez was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $20,000 cash bail.
