Ashland's New Chief of Police Sworn In

Schuylkill County Judge William E. Baldwin presided over a ceremony Thursday afternoon to swear in Ashland's new Chief of Police, Gerard Daley.
The ceremony was held in Courtroom 1 at the Schuylkill County Courthouse with Daley's family, friends, co-workers, and Ashland Borough Council members in attendence.

Ashland Borough Council voted to hire Daley during their December meeting after the prior Chief, Mark O'Hearn, retired from the position in November.

Daley isn't new to the Ashland Police, after working as a Part-Time Police Officer since 2009.

Daley is a 2006 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School and a 2008 graduate of the McCann School of Business where he earned an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice.

After graduating, Daley started working Part-Time for the Ashland Police Department as well as the Girardville Police.

Since 2009 Daley has been working for Police Departments in Frackville, Cass Township, Minersville, and the Schuylkill County Sheriff's Office. He also was a part-time officer in Ashland, before being hired as chief.

After being sworn in Daley said "I'm excited for the next step in my career in law enforcement, I started my career in Ashland and I look forward to finishing my career in Ashland".

Daley's official first day of work is December 31st, 2018.
