Gloria Rodriguez, 86, of Mahanoy City, passed away Saturday, December 22nd, at Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Home, Weatherly.

Gloria was born in Mahanoy City, PA on April 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Margaret) (Klemavich) and George Balonis.

She graduated from Mahanoy City High School, class of 1950

Gloria was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.

She worked at the former Eagle Brothers & City Shirt Mahanoy City.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Rodriguez.

Gloria is survived by a daughter, Maria, wife of Anthony Fazio, of Hazleton;

And a son, Joseph, husband of Gail Roberts, of Port Charlotte FL;

Gloria is also survived by a sister, Eleanor, wife of Anthony Kazokas, of Philadelphia.

a brother, Edward Balonis, Companion Mary Lou Ward, of Drums; and by Grandsons Anthony and Mark Fazio and David and Scott Roberts. Great Grandsons Dominic and Noah Fazio

She is preceded in death by a brother George, and sister Margaret who passed away at age 3.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 am on Saturday, December 29th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher and Monsignor William Handges officiating.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 am at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.

Mary Sue Zelinsky, 48, of Pottsville, met with her Lord Saturday evening at her home.

Born August 14, 1970 in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Ellen (Walsh) Zelinsky.

She was a member of the Salvation Army; the Ladies' Home League; and loved spending retreat at Camp Ladore.

Mary is survived by her son John J. Zelinsky, Pottsville; grandsons Parker and John J. II. She is also survived by numerous friends who loved her as if she were family.

A Celebration of Mary Sue's life will be held 11 AM Saturday January 5 at the Salvation Army, Pottsville. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville has been entrusted with arrangements.

Joan B. Costello, 74, Pottsville, died Sunday morning at Schuylkill Center Genesis Eldercare, Pottsville.

Born November 9, 1945 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Elizabeth (Winter) Costello.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and a graduate of Nativity BVM High School. She worked at the former Good Samaritan RMC, Pottsville in the house keeping department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Dolores Renninger.

She is survived by a brother Jim Costello husband of Ruth, Sinking Spring and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Friday December 28 at St. Patrick RC Church. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist RC Cemetery. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville has been entrusted with arrangements. Betsy J. Novak, 68, of Edison, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at JFK Medical Center, in Edison, New Jersey, after a lengthy illness. Born in Shenandoah, Betsy was a resident of Edison for over 60 years. Betsy was retired, but was previously employed with Raritan Bay Hospital in Perth Amboy in Tech Support. Betsy was very adventurous, and enjoyed traveling. Her greatest joy came from her family and friends.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jean Novak. She is survived by her sisters, Donna Foster, and Cheryl Klimek and her husband Randy; along with 3 nieces, 5 great nieces and 1 great nephew. Betsy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betsy will be laid to rest during a private family graveside service at the Old White Church Cemetery in Ringtown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betsy’s name can be made to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 750, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or giving.tsalliance.org.
