Sharon L. Higgins, R.N., 67 of Pottsville died Sunday at home.

She was born April 22, 1951 in Pottsville a daughter of the late Clayton and Gloria Shappell Wenrich.

She was a 1969 graduate of Schuylkill Haven Area High School and the former Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing.

Prior to retiring Sharon worked at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Krammes. Surviving are her husband with whom she celebrated 32 years of marriage with on May 15, 2018, Patrick V. Higgins; a brother Steve Wenrich; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Hillside SPCA PO Box, 233 Pottsville PA, 17901.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Carol J. Readinger, 83, of North Manheim Township, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospice, 17th and Chew Streets, Allentown.

Born in North Manheim Township, Dec. 5, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John and Izola Riegel Trumbo.

She was the wife of Claude E. "Bud" Readinger.

She was a member of Faith Reformed United Church of Christ, Landingville and Landingville Fire Company Auxiliary.

Carol was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1953, and was last employed at Alpha Mills, Schuylkill Haven.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Trumbo.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Robert D. "Dapper" Drey, husband of Kris, Morristown, Tenn., and Ryan H. Readinger, husband of Angela, Spring City; grandchildren, Justin and Janelle Drey and Hunter and Gage Readinger; great-grandson, Cody Wade Hodges Drey; siblings, Shelby Leymeister, widow of Donald, Auburn, Kimberly Shive, wife of John, Landingville and Richard L. Trumbo, husband of Shelly, Landingville; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. James Fidler officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Susan Futchko, formerly of St. Clair, PA and more recently Tappahannock, VA, passed away on January 6, 2019 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Farnham, VA.

Sue was born in Tuscarora, PA, the fifth of ten children born to the late George and Anna Marko. She was the devoted husband of the late George Futchko who died in 2012.

She was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Clair. Sue loved singing with the choir at St. Mary’s and taking part in their Christmas and Easter bake sales. Family and friends enjoyed her baked pies, cookies, homemade pierogis and city chicken. It gave Sue immense pleasure to make and share roasting pans full of her tightly rolled bite sized halupkies. Sue retired from Miss Pennsylvania Factory as a seamstress and was a member of ILGWU.

She loved traveling with her husband and visiting with family in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida and Virginia

She was preceded in death by her son George (Butch), his wife Anne Marie (Kurtek) Futchko, son Bernard Futchko,; daughter, Carole Sidella and siblings John, Steve, George, Joe, Helen (Schaeffer), Annie(Martin), Betty (Zachwieja).

Sue Is survived by her faithful son Charlie (Mary); two sisters- Irene Loder and Rose Bennett; beloved daughter-in-law Sandi Futchko (Bernie); grandchildren Michael Sidella, Jeff Sidella (Mellisa), Tara Futchko Cooper (Thomas), Shane Futchko, Seth (Ashleigh) Futchko, Travis ((Jessica) Futchko, Jeremy Futchko; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Barbara Kuneiga, Ethel Swartz, Annie Peiffer, Eleanor Yuschock, Dorothy Sternako; longtime friend Martha Futchko; nieces and nephews.

The office of Christian Burial will be held at 10A,M. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Saint Clair, with the Very Rev. Gregory J. Noga officiating. Friends are invited to call from 8:30-9:30A.M. at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home,110 N. 2nd Street St. Clair. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap Cemetery with her beloved husband, George, at a later time.

Theresa Lynne (Terri) Darosh-Breslin, 51, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, January 5th, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Theresa was born in Pottsville, on August 21, 1967, a daughter of Darline A. (Reed) Darosh, of Orwigsburg, and the late Adolf "Ady" J. Darosh, Jr.

Terri was the wife of David J. Breslin. They married on August 21, 2010. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, class of 1986.

She worked as a pet groomer and also at Giant as a deli clerk.

Terri was passionate about her family and made it her life's mission to help all animals whether big or small.

In addition to her husband, David, Terri is survived by

Her daughter, Jacquelynne Letcher, of Pottsville;

Two brothers, Christian J. Darosh of Schuylkill Haven, and Craig B. Darosh, husband of Katie of Orwigsburg;

Nieces and nephews, Brady, Karah, Cameron, Kyla and Natalie;

Aunts, uncles Irene and Anthony Wood, Beverly and Joseph Onuskanich. Cousins from the Bachman, Wood, Holmes and Onuskanich families. Terri was predeceased by her nephew Jonathan.

A Celebration of Life Service, for Terri, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg. Memorial gathering will begin at 10:00 AM.

Dorothy Schaeffer, 73, of Tower City, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at UPMC, Pinnacle, Harrisburg.

Dot was born July 2, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York a daughter of the late Frank and Martha Mills-Garner Michitsch.

Dot enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Schaeffer, October 5, 2017.

Surviving are her two daughters, Karen Miller (Ken); Stacey Sherack; a son, Charles Promensky all of Tower City; step-daughter, Tammy Schaeffer, Tower City; step-son, Jon Schaeffer (Heather), Wernersville; two brothers, Ken Michitsch, Harrisburg and Bill Michitsch, Tivoli, New York; a sister, Anita Pfeffer, Hummelstown. Six grandchildren

Alan R. Terwilliger, 85, of Hegins, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on Saturday, July 8, 1933, in Sharon,PA, a son of the late Raymond Terwilliger and the late Marion Duitch Terwilliger.

He was a 1952 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and 1956 graduate of Penn State University.

Alan was a member of AGR Fraternity at Penn State University.

He was an avid fan of his Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates.

He served as President of Tri-Valley CAN DO Organization from 1966-1972; was a board member from 1970-2008 and Chairman of the board from 1983-1985 of the Greater Pottsville Industrial Development Corp. (GPIDC)/Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO); was a board member from 1985-2010 and Chairman of the board from 1992-1995 of the Schuylkill County Industrial Development Authority (SCIDA).

Alan served in the military and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in 1956. He served six months active duty, and seven years in the National Guard and Reserves, Pine Grove, Unit 228th S/T, 28th Division.

He was named the G. Earl Stephenson Distinguished Citizen Award in 1989 by the Greater Winter Carnival for distinguished and unselfish service given to the Greater Pottsville community.

Alan served as Chairman of Tri-Valley Charities, Tri-Valley School Board, Chairman of the Tri-Valley Basketball and Wrestling Clubs,Tri-Valley Community Pool fund raising drive, and Chairman of the Board of Adjustment of Hegins Township.

He was part owner and former president of Huntsinger Farms, Inc., Hegins.


Alan is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Huntsinger Terwilliger, to whom he was married for 60 years.

He is also survived by two daughters, Celeste Rae Terwilliger and her partner Eugene Shepherd of Dedham, MA, and Amy Jo Bruso and her husband Bruce of Hegins; three sons, John E. Terwilliger and his wife Marina of Hegins, Stephen C. Terwilliger and his wife Debbie of Hegins, and Neil S. Terwilliger and his wife Vicki of Sacramento; five grandsons, Austen Terwilliger and his wife Monica of Houston, TX, Evan Terwilliger and his wife Miya of Chestnut Hill, MA, Cody Bruso and his fiancee Meghan Bjerke of Media, PA, Cale Bruso of Hegins, and Joshua Terwilliger and his wife Michelle of Dalmatia, PA; a granddaughter, Danielle Terwilliger of Hegins; a great granddaughter, Brylie Terwilliger of Hegins; two sisters, Judy Coleman of Dallas, TX and Sally Dilts of Camarillo, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
