Michael Paul "Zini" Ziniewicz, age 54, of Kaska, PA passed away Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA.

Born in Pottsville, PA on June 18, 1964, he was the son of the late Rosalie (Delpais) Ziniewicz and Anthony Ziniewicz who survives him in New Philadelphia, PA.

Michael was a graduate of Saint Clair High School, Class of 1982. He worked as a Mill Operator at OMNOVA Solutions in Auburn. He was a member of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in New Philadelphia.
Michael was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper, who loved being outdoors. He loved video taping everything from his hunts to his family and friends. He was a member of the Moss Glen Rod and Gun Club in Brockton.

In addition to his Mother, he was preceded in death by his son Michael on June 6, 2018.

In addition to his father, Michael is survived by his wife Heather (Carpency) Ziniewicz, Kaska; two daughters: Amanda Ziniewicz, Kaska and Tiffany Moll and her husband Matt, Pottsville; three brothers: Anthony Ziniewicz and his wife Bernice, Mountain Top, Joseph Ziniewicz, Lake Wynonah, and William Ziniewicz, New Philadelphia; and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike Street, Port Carbon at 11AM on Friday, January 11th, with Rev. Ronald Minner officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday morning from 9-11AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Holy Family Cemetery New Philadelphia, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michael Ziniewicz Memorial Fund c/o The Riverview Bank, Pottsville Park Plaza Office 308 North Claude A Lord Blvd. Pottsville, PA 17901.

Lawrence F. "Larry" Deegan, age 77, of Pine Grove, PA passed away Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA.

Born in Mankato, Minnesota on September 15, 1941, he was the son of the late James Clyde and Frances (Halter) Deegan.

Larry was a graduate of Mankato High School,Class of 1959. He then served in the U.S. Navy as a CB.

Larry worked as a project coordinator for George R. Lynn Construction in Port Carbon for over 20 years and then for Schuylkill Paving Company and last work Larry Luckenbill Paving Company. Larry was a beef cattle rancher, who loved his farm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: James and Greg and sisters: Joanne and Patricia.

Larry is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dorothy Lillian (Frie) Deegan, Pine Grove; two daughters: Lorrie L. Deegan, New Philadelphia and Paula R. Deegan, Schuylkill Haven; three granddaughters: Madison R. Deegan, New Philadelphia and Alea and Alyssa Schock, Frackville; a brother Phillip Deegan and a sister Mary Deegan Date, both of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 11AM on Saturday, January 12th, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing Saturday morning 9-11AM at Funeral Home.
Interment will be held private.

Robert L. Berger, Jr. 53, of Ashland, PA passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Geisinger-Shamokin Hospital, Shamokin, PA.

Born in Pottsville, PA October 27, 1965, the son of the late Robert L. Sr and Gertrude C. (Parrish) Berger. He was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School and last worked for the Prysmian Group, Schuylkill Haven, in the maintenance department. He was a member of Frackville Lodge, F.& A.M., Ashland Fish and Game Club, South End Field & Stream Club, Frackville. He loved mountain biking, hunting and fishing at Roaring Creek, and enjoyed drag races. He loved his dog Buzz.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann in 1982.

He is survived by two brothers: Nelson Berger and his wife Angie; and Brian Berger and his wife Susan, both of Ashland. Two nephews: Nathan and Nelson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, PA.

Viewing will be from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

Dorothy D. Steidle, 94, died Monday evening at Seton Manor.

Born in Mechanicsville September 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Minnie M. (Krause) Derr.

She was a member of St. Stephen RC Church, Port Carbon; Pottsville Senior Citizens; St. Clair Senior Citizens; and the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary. She retired from the former Bell Telephone Co. of PA, Pottsville, where she worked as a teller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Gunk” Steidle (2014).

Dorothy is survived by her cousins Marie Sue Moyer wife of David and Dennis Brown husband of Pat. Lifelong friends Pat and John Kutch; nephew Jim Fitzgerald; niece Linda Williams wife of Dale; niece Sharon Heckman wife of Bruce; niece Robin O’Donald wife of Tom. She is also survived by god children Christine Deegan and Jessica Oakhill; and many friends and good nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11AM Saturday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10AM until the time of service. Interment will at the convenience of the family at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery Pine Grove.

The family would prefer donations be made in Dorothy’s memory to either St. Stephen RC Church Memorial Fund or the Hillside SPCA.
