Raymond J. Brooks, Sr., 81 of Ashland, PA passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, PA January 28, 1937 the son of the late Jonathan B. and Helen T. (Muckski) Brooks Sr. He worked as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (McGinley) Brooks. Two daughters and two sons: Fawn Seals, Bensalem, PA; Dorothy A. Morris, Philadelphia; Raymond Brooks Jr., Philadelphia; and Brian Brooks, Philadelphia. Two brothers and two sisters: Jonathan B. Brooks, Jr. Ashland; Richard Brooks, Florida; Dorothy Schoell, Williamstown, NJ; and Shirley Clegg, Williamstown, NJ. 13 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one brother, James Allen Brooks.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland,PA. Viewing from 11:00AM-1:00PM at the funeral home Monday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Margaret Yasenchak, 93, Mary D, PA, died on January 21, 2019. On August 2, 1925, she was born Margaret Susan Tomchick to father Adam Tomchick and mother Mary Cizmar in Coaldale, PA. 

Margaret is pre-deceased by her husband John and her brother George and sisters Ann, Rose, and Betty. 

She is survived by her son John, Bangor, Maine, and daughter Mary, Catawissa, PA, and her dear cousin Dorothy Tomchick, Coaldale. 

In her early life, Margaret worked at the Atlas Powder Company, Wood Brothers Chocolate Shop, and Ss. Peter and Paul School cafeteria. But for many years, she remained at home lovingly caring for her ailing husband. 

We are grateful for the care received at St. Luke’s Nursing and Rehab Center, Coaldale. We are also grateful for friends who supported Margaret, especially Deb and Glenn Balliet. 

Margaret was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Brockton, PA. 

She had special devotion for Mother Mary. 

In lieu of flowers, donate to St. Mary BCC, Brockton in care of 621 West Mahanoy Street, Mahanoy City, PA 17948. Services will be announced at a later date.

Bruce I. Neifert, 66, of Canton, PA and formerly of Tamaqua, PA died on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in Sayre, PA. He was the husband of Lewann (nee Erbe) Neifert to whom he was married 43 years. Born in Coaldale, PA on February 18, 1952, Bruce was a son of the late Ruth (nee Zimmerman) and Kenneth E. Neifert, Sr. 

A 1970 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he received his bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in 1974 and his master’s degree from Wilkes University. A former educator in Tamaqua area, Bruce was a retired Assistant Principal at Canton Area Jr.-Sr. High School. He was a member and President of the Canton Lion’s Club; a former member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua; and a consistent blood donor for the local blood drives. An avid USC and Penn State football fan, Bruce also enjoyed family vacations, traveling, and the occasional casino trip. He absolutely loved his grandchildren and family events.

In addition to his wife Lewann, he is survived by sons Matthew and his wife Molly of Hometown, PA and Kyle and his wife Angela of Belle Vernon, PA; grandchildren, Ignatius Neifert, Isidora Neifert, Cecilia Neifert, Logan Neifert, and Gia DiSimone; brother, Kenneth E. Neifert, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Catherine L. Robertshaw and her husband, John of Mt. Holly, NJ; and many nephews and nieces. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in St. Jerome Cemetery will follow the services. 

Call 9-11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bruce’s name may be made to the Canton Lion’s Charities, c/o Pat Barrett, Box 157, Canton, PA 17724.
