Shenandoah Homes Damaged By Fire; Red Cross Assisting Victims

A fire destroyed a home and damaged another Tuesday evening in Shenandoah.

Just before 6:45pm, emergency personnel were dispatched to 238 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah, for a house fire.  As the first crews arrived, they found heavy fire in the rear of the home and quickly called in a 2nd alarm.

Fire crews were called in from around Northern Schuylkill County, including Shenandoah, Frackville, Mahanoy City, Ringtown, Shenandoah Heights, Englewood, William Penn, as well as Pottsville for their RIT.

By 7:30pm, the fire was ruled knocked down but crews remained on scene for overhaul.

According to Shenandoah Fire Marshal Rick Examitas, the fire was ruled accidental from a cooking incident.  The home at 238 South Jardin sustained heavy damage with the home at 236 suffering smoke and water damage.

The American Red Cross assisted the victims, a woman and two children that lived at 238, and a man who lived at 236.
