Ralph L. Updike, beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Friday February 8, 2019 as a guest at the Hometown Nursing Home Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Husband of the late Marjorie A. "Shirley" Updike who passed away on November 17, 2017, Ralph is survived by; daughter, Lisa Scheitrum of McAdoo; sons, Ralph J. Updike and his wife Jacqueline of Virginia, Steve L. Updike and his wife Sally of McAdoo, Mark W. Updike of Tamaqua; sister, Charlene Updike; sister-in-law, Vickie Carey wife of Philip; grandchildren Cassaundra Ameel of Pittsburgh, Capt. Steve W Updike, DO USAF of Texas, Lauren Mayer of Philadelphia, Brittany Himmelreich of Cressona, Ian Updike of Virginia, Michelle Myers of Williamsport, David Updike of McAdoo, and Allison Updike of Virginia, and Brandon Updike of Hazleton; great grandchildren Brady and Peyton Himmelreich; many nieces, nephews, and extended family in the United Kingdom.

Born in Tyrone, Pennsylvania the son of the late James, and Pearl (Gunsallus) Updike he was also predeceased by his brother, Edward.

Ralph served his country honorably during a twenty year career in the United States Air Force. Rising to the rank of Tech Sargent, Ralph served as a Electronics Tech. During his tour of the United Kingdom, he met Shirley whom he shared a birthday with, May 27, 1936. While serving abroad Ralph furthered his passion for Bowling. While stationed in The United Kingdom, Ralph was the United Kingdom Bowling Champion.

Ralph and his family were longtime residents of Lake Hauto. He and Shirley owned the former Sky Lanes Bowling Center in Hometown until building Spare/Time, which they operated until retiring.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 13, 2019 at 8 o'clock P.M from the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6: P.M. until time of services.

Interment with Military Honors bestowed by the United States Air Force, Thursday February 14, 2019 at 11:30 A.M., Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania.

Scott Alan Lipshaw, age 48, of Port Carbon, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 8th, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill, East in Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, PA on May 12, 1970, he was the son of the late George J. and Philomena M. (Tobin) Lipshaw.

Scott was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1988. He first worked as a carpenter for McMurtrie Contracting in Pottsville, then as a brick layer for B.A.C. Local 5 out of Pottsville, and has been working as the Facilities Construction Project Manager for Kutztown University.

Scott was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in St. Clair, a member of the Line Mountain Four Wheelers, and a member of the East Coast Four Wheel Drive Association. Scott loved racing, four wheeling, hunting, and most of all his kids Devin and Kaylin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Eileen Sheehan.

Scott is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kelly L. (O'Brien) Lipshaw, a son: Devin W. Lipshaw, a daughter Kaylin O. Lipshaw, two brothers: George Lipshaw Jr. and his wife Janet and David Lipshaw and his wife Christine, and brother-in-law James Sheehan, all of Port Carbon; three nieces Reba Lipshaw, Cheyan Hauptly, and Lauren Sheehan; a nephew Brandon Sheehan; and his dog Bailey.

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St. Port Carbon at 7:30PM on Monday, February 11th.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Monday evening from 5:30-7:30PM at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home.

Interment will be held private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA 18 Wertz Drive, Pine Grove, PA 17963.
